There are many translation applications you can download onto your phone but this article will talk specifically about how you can use Google’s translation app offline. Download the languages you need before your trip so you can translate text when Wi-Fi or mobile data is unavailable. Connect to Wi-Fi to complete the downloads, and check that both English and Spanish are available offline.
Steps To Install Language Packages
Step 1
Install Google Translate from Google Play on Android or the App Store on iPhone, then open the app while connected to Wi-Fi.
Step 2
Open the language selector and look for the Download option beside Spanish. Check English as well, and download it if needed. A language without a Download option is not available for offline use.
Step 3
If asked to confirm the language download, tap Download. Wait for the download to finish before disconnecting from Wi-Fi.
Step 4
Look for the Downloaded indicator beside each saved language, then test an English–Spanish text translation without an internet connection. The interface can differ by device; see Google’s current offline translation instructions for details.
